UNDERSTAND YOUR OPTIONS

A dental examination checks teeth and gums and looks at how the bite is developing. Fluoride or fissure sealants may be recommended according to your child’s decay risk.

If a tooth needs treatment, the dentist explains the reason, available approaches and comfort options. A damaged baby tooth still deserves assessment.

Crowding, bite changes or more complex care may need another clinician’s input. We can explain when specialist assessment would be appropriate.

Bring a medication list, relevant medical information and your Medicare card if asking about CDBS. Let the team know about anxiety or additional support needs.

Use reassuring, simple descriptions of the appointment. Your child can ask questions and the team can explain each step before starting.

Ask for age-appropriate advice on brushing, fluoride toothpaste and reducing frequent sugary snacks. A practical routine is easier to maintain than a complicated one.

PLAN WITH CONFIDENCE
CDBS can contribute to eligible basic dental services for qualifying children aged 0–17. Eligibility, available balance and the proposed services must be checked before treatment. Ask our team about bulk billing for eligible covered care and any costs that are outside the scheme.
